THANK YOU Thurston County Democrats

Chris Reykdal, Democrat for State Representative 22nd District

Thurston County Democrats,

Thanks to your help, we knocked on over 13,000 doors, made over 14,000 live phone calls, and raised over $66,000. Kim and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the hard work and sacrifice that so many people put into our campaign!

I also want to thank my Democratic opponents in the primary race – Stew Henderson, Judi Hoefling, Steve Robinson, Fred Jensen and Jeremy Miller. We should all be proud of the clean, issue-focused campaigns we ran.

Now it is time to rally the Democratic family as we face a conservative Republican in the General Election. I respect deeply my Republican opponent for his courage to run. We both have young families and a desire to serve our community, but that’s where the similarities end. Make no mistake; I will NEVER let this get personal. I will, however, engage my opponent with every ounce of passion and conviction I have when it comes to matters of critical policy differences – and there are many. It is time to debate the issues!

I seek a progressive future that focuses on tax reform in order to fund education, programs for the vulnerable, and resources to address our global imperative – climate change and environmental protection. My opponent has already made it clear that he supports the thirty-year failure of trickle-down economics. He seeks additional tax breaks, a further gutting of public programs, and “faith-based” delivery systems to replace essential public services. He also states that he remains skeptical about climate change -- unbelievable!

To bring our progressive message to every voter in Thurston County, I need your help now. Please, click here to contribute to our campaign so we can kick-off our general election efforts with an aggressive outreach.

I look forward to policy-centered debates with my Republican opponent on the critical issues facing our community. I urge you to look at the comprehensive tax-reform plan I offered during our primary campaign – click here to read the plan. This is a perfect example of where progressive risk-taking is needed, not more of the status quo. In a community defined by public service, I will never shy away from defending public employees, the critical services we provide, and the necessary revenue to fund those critical programs!

Please, visit www.ChrisReykdal.com to endorse my campaign, volunteer, and to make a contribution of $250, $100, or $50, or whatever you can afford. With hotly contested races for the U.S. Senate and the 3rd Congressional District, Republicans are highly motivated, and I assure you, my opponent will leverage that energy in our race for the 22nd District. We will not take this race lightly and I ask for your support today!

Again, thank you so much for all you’ve done for our campaign to date. Please help us onward to victory in November by donating here today!

With warm regards,

Chris

Chris Reykdal, Democrat for State Representative 22nd District

Dear Neighbors and friends,

Every once in a while you meet a person that inspires you; someone who embodies a genuine hope that, with enough hard work and commitment, we will see better days ahead. We have come to know such a person – Chris Reykdal, candidate for the State House of Representatives here in our 22nd Legislative District. Both retiring Representative Brendan Williams and Sam Hunt, our other Representative in the 22nd District, have endorsed Chris, and so have we.

Chris fought through a tough childhood filled with poverty and struggle. In many ways, his challenges parallel the struggle that many of us experienced as children. He lifted himself up through education and hard work to make something of himself and escape a life of poverty. Chris is an “old soul”, whose patience, insights, and wisdom are unique for a young father.

The 2010 election will have far reaching impacts on the future of tax reform, health care, educational investments, our economy, and more. For example, our property taxes rise year after year, and the Legislature has not taken this issue on. Chris Reykdal has shown the courage and the smarts that it will take to fix this broken system. We are proud to vote for Chris Reykdal!

We have put our trust in Chris because he is the only leading candidate with a real-life story of struggle and perseverance. He also is well educated and has invested in our community as a City Planning Commissioner, current School Board member, and youth sports volunteer. Chris is the only candidate who has the professional and life experience to really make a positive difference as a leader for us!

Chris has earned our trust and admiration and we strongly urge you to vote for an inspiring young leader - Chris Reykdal, candidate for the Washington State House of Representatives.

Bruce Reeves - Olympia
Joyce Gillie - Tumwater

REP. SAM HUNT ENDORSES CHRIS REYKDAL

REP. SAM HUNT ENDORSES CHRIS REYKDAL

OLYMPIA – Long time State Representative Sam Hunt endorsed Tumwater School Board member Chris Reykdal in his campaign for the State Legislature. Hunt joins Representative Brendan Williams, over 50 elected officials and community leaders and over 20 organizations who have endorsed Reykdal’s candidacy.

“Several of the candidates running for the open seat in the 22nd District are wonderful people. However, Chris Reykdal clearly stands above the rest. Chris understands that the key to creating jobs, funding our schools and building a sustainable environment starts with reforming our state’s broken and outdated tax structure. He has had the courage to take on this incredibly tough issue since day one of his campaign, proving that he will always put people over politics. He’s the only candidate with real experience writing state budgets (operating, capital, and transportation). What is most impressive is he has made the time to serve in our community in some challenging roles: school board member, planning commissioner, and youth volunteer. I hope to work side-by-side with Chris in the Legislature so together we can deliver results for our community.”

“I am honored to have Sam Hunt’s support in this campaign,” commented Reykdal, whose campaign has visited nearly 10,000 homes across the district. “For years, Sam has put the needs of our community ahead of special interests. He’s been a champion for education, public employees, and the small businesses that operate in our community. Sam is a tremendous public servant! I hope to work together with Sam Hunt and Karen Fraser to fix our broken tax system in Washington State so we can truly invest in our schools, our environment, and the public and private employees that are the heart and soul of our community.”

REYKDAL CAMPAIGN IS SURGING!

 Contact: Chris Reykdal, 790-3151

OLYMPIA – In the last 14 days, the Reykdal campaign reports more than $14,000 in donations. “This campaign has always been about working families and restoring the respect of public employees and the services we provide. We just had no idea how deeply we had tapped in to such a powerful feeling in our community. Public employees and the small businesses that depend on them for their sales are frustrated at the culture of privilege that our Legislature has fostered for decades. People are starving for a new tax code that rewards hard work, doesn’t force senior citizens out of their homes, and doesn’t grant favor to big oil, big banks, and big retail! It’s time to put State government back on the side of working families, parents, and the education community.” Reykdal stated.

Donations over the last two weeks came from labor unions representing thousands of local public employees, educational advocacy groups, and over seventy citizens in the community, including teachers, firefighters, nurses, doctors, dentists, small business owners, and activists.

Reykdal is now the leader in fundraising, volunteering, doorbelling, and phone banking. He has also tallied more organizational endorsements than his six opponents combined. “We are peaking at the right time in this primary!” said Reykdal. “We will work around the clock for the next twenty-five days!”

A sample of Reykdal’s endorsements includes:

NARAL Pro Choice Washington, Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE), League of Education Voters (LEV), Washington Education Association (WEA), Public School Employees (PSE), Washington Public Employees Association (WPEA), Service Employee International Union (SEIU), International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), and United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW).
