Congressional District Caucus Information
Anyone can become a delegate to the Democratic National Convention
(DNC). You don't need to have been elected as a delegate at one of the
previous meetings, and you don't necessarily need to be an elected
official, Party leader, or even a Party activist.
If you're interested in being a candidate to the DNC, you may run as one of the following three types of candidates:
- 51 Congressional District level delegates and 9 alternates.*
To do so, you must attend your Congressional District Caucus on May 17.
- 10 Pledged Party leaders and elected officials (PLEOs). To do so, you must attend the State Convention June 14 - 15.
- 17 At-large delegates and 4 alternates. To do so, you must attend the State Convention June 14 - 15.
* 51 and 9 are statewide numbers for all Washington Congressional
Districts. Congressional Districts 3 and 9 are each allocated 5
delegates and 1 alternate.
Declaration of Candidacy forms for each are below. Mail, e-mail, or fax
the Declaration of Candidacy form to the Washington State Democrats
office no sooner than Wednesday, March 5, 2008 and no later than
Friday, May 2, 2008 at 5:00pm. There are no exceptions.
