It’s Time to Make History

Thousands of people across Washington State are expected to rally on December 12th to urge of passage of the historic health care legislation currently being debated in the US Senate.

Saturday, December 12th health insurance reform advocates across Washington will rally at nine separate locations to urge the US Senate to join the House by passing historic health reform legislation before they take their holiday recess.

In Olympia activists will gather at Sylvester Park, Capitol and Legion downtown, at 12 noon. Other rallies will be held on the same day in Bellingham, Bremerton, Everett, Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma, Vancouver and Yakima.

Attendees are asked to bring two greeting cards with their personal healthcare story written in each card.  Cards will be deposited into large gift boxes and delivered to Senators Murray and Cantwell with the wish that Americans get Healthcare Reform by the Holidays.

Donations of cleaning and personal hygiene items will also be collected for the YWCA’s

Other Bank. Hotel sized soaps and shampoos are especially welcome.

The rallies are designed to shore up Senate support in an effort to pass reform that will help solve the challenges people face from rising health care costs and a lack of adequate health insurance – from families that incur budget-breaking debt because of limited health care coverage to the uninsured who go without needed medication.

The statewide action has been organized by Health Care for America NOW! and the Healthy Washington Coalition. These two organizations are comprised of hundreds of groups representing small businesses, labor unions, health care providers, and community organizations from across the state who are working to secure quality affordable health care.

Speakers will include Rep. Brendan Williams and Rabbi Seth Goldstein. Stewart Henderson will serve as the M.C.
