Day Captain Duties
A Day Captain is essential to a smooth running Burger Booth. We need a different Captain for each day. If you're interested in being a Day Captain, contact Rhenda Strub at rhenda@irisassociates.net,
Here are some of the activities a Day Captain would be expected to fulfill:
- Help make a seamless transition from one shift to another
- Ensure cheese is prepared and ready to serve on ice
- Ensure onions are cut and ready to cook
- Supervise hand-washing and other safety measures
- Periodically wipe down counters and other food areas
- Periodically collect and secure money from front-end change boxes
- Handle other requests for assistance from the shift members
- Make sure each shift cleans and restocks supplies before the next shift
Shift Captain Duties
Here are some of the activities a Shift Captain would be expected to fulfill:
- Recruit at least 10 workers for your shift except for Lakefair which requires 12 per shift.
- Provide one person who has a current food handler's permit
- Make sure your team cleans up AND restocks after your shift.
Last shift of each day clean up duties include:
- Clean floors
- Clean grill
- Wipe down counters
- Put perishible food items into the refrigerator
- Sweep outside area around the booth

The Public Health Department requires that there be at least one person with a current Food & Beverage Worker Card on site at all times.
